Breaking: House Intel Committee announces final conclusion on Russian collusion probe
March 12, 2018
The Republican majority on the House Intelligence Committee announced Monday that they would be ending the committee investigation into alleged Russian collusion and election interference.
Here's what the committee said
“We found no evidence of collusion,” said Republican Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) to reporters. “We found perhaps some bad judgment, inappropriate meetings, inappropriate judgment in taking meetings — but only Tom Clancy could take this series of inadvertent contacts, meetings, whatever, and weave that into some sort of a spy thriller that could go out there.”
“We couldn’t establish the same conclusion that the CIA did that they specifically wanted to help Trump," he added.
The Republicans will provide a draft report of their findings to be reviewed by the Democrats on the committee on Tuesday.
"Putin's not going anywhere"
Conaway also appeared on Fox News to clarify the findings of the committee.
"We found no reason to think that there's something we're missing in this regard," he said of the Russian investigation, "we've talked to everybody we believe we need to talk to, and every congressional investigation has always got a caveat that you know ten years from now some private diary might be found that leads to a different conclusion."

"Putin's not going anywhere," he added, "so the Intel Committee has ongoing oversight responsibilities it will continue, but with respect to answering these four questions, we believe we got the information necessary to answer those for the American people."
Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) praised the finding and tweeted, "Case closed. It's time we return focus to the people's agenda."
