Kudlow says Nikki Haley was 'confused' on Russian sanctions - here's her fierce response

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley shot back at a comment by President Trump's economic advisor Larry Kudlow about a misunderstanding over further sanctions against Russia.

Here's what happened

Haley said that there would be more sanctions against Russia over the chemical attacks launched by their ally Syrian President Assad. But the Trump administration appeared to walk back that decision, and said through various spokespersons that the president was still considering the issue.

On Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, "We are considering additional sanctions on Russia and a decision will be made in the near future."

Kudlow took it one step further on Tuesday and put the onus of the disagreement on Haley.

"She's done a great job. She's been a great ambassador, but there might have been some momentary confusion about that," he said.

"Additional sanctions are under consideration but not implemented," he added.

Haley had a curt response Tuesday. "With all due respect, I don't get confused,” she said, according to Fox News' Dana Perino.

Kudlow apologizes

Later on Tuesday, Kudlow told ABC's Jordyn Phelps that he had apologized to Haley for his comments.

"I was wrong," Kudlow told Phelps. "There was a process mistake and I shouldn't have said what I said."

"She wasn't confused," he added.

Here's a CNN report on the disagreement:
