Numbers for Comey’s initial book sales are in. They dwarf Hillary's and other best-sellers.

Former FBI Director James Comey and his new book, “A Higher Loyalty,” have dominated headlines for the past two weeks.

Now we know how the wall-to-wall media coverage of him, his book, and his story — as well as President Donald Trump's many tweets about the former FBI chief and his tell-all — may have impacted his book’s sales.

What do the numbers show?

Comey’s book sold more than 600,000 copies in all formats, including print, audio, and digital, during its first full week in circulation, the New York Times reported. As a result, the book has topped nearly every best-seller list.

The blockbuster sales have reportedly forced Comey's publisher, Flatiron Books, to order multiple reprints. The publisher has now ordered more than 1 million copies. According to the New York Post, Flatiron only ordered 850,000 copies for the book's release.

If Comey's book continues to sale at its current pace, it will easily sell millions of copies by year's end, a feat very few books ever reach.

How does it compare to other recent political best-sellers?

Comey's book is the best-selling book since Michael Wolff's controversial book "Fire and Fury," which was released in January. It sold only 200,000 hardcover copies in its first week, according to the Times, partly because its publisher didn't anticipate as much demand for the book as it received.

"Fire and Fury" has sold more than 2 million copies to date.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton's book about her failed 2016 presidential campaign sold just 300,000 copies during its first week.

Right now, thanks to hyper-partisan political divide, books on President Donald Trump are raking in the big bucks for publishing houses. As CNN reported, every book that has made its way to the No. 1 position on the Times' list of best-selling nonfiction books has been about the president.
