Writer: 'I'd rather my daughter dated an MS-13 than a member of the Republican Party

MS-13 is a gang whose motto is: "Kill, rape, control." So, freelance writer Rob Rousseau drew headlines on Monday when he announced on Twitter: "I would rather my daughter dated a member of MS-13 than a member of the Republican Party."

Then things got weird.

Turns out, Rob doesn't even have a daughter. Also turns out, Rousseau fashions himself as a troll who loves to get right-wingers worked up.

Rousseau says on his Twitter profile that he's a "gun expert, mediocre musician, and cool dad," in addition to his credentials as a writer for VICE Sports and Paste Magazine.

In the profile, Rousseau also posts his phone number, which might change after his Twitter reactions — considering another tweet where he admitted: "Think I'm going to go ahead and close up the old DMs now" after posting a series of messages directed toward him that were seen as threats.

A few months ago, Rousseau bragged in a Paste article about how he chides what he calls "dumb right-wing reactionaries that I despise."

What's interesting, is the fact that Rousseau admits in his Paste piece that when he Tweeted that "AR stands for assault rifle," he "didn't end up learning what the AR in AR-15 stands for" and that he "didn't really care." It's also quite evident that either he's not a gun expert, or that's also a joke.

The "AR" in AR-15 stands for ArmaLite rifle. You're welcome, Rob. Or is that even your real name?

In his expletive-riddled article, Rousseau further mocks anyone who takes issue with his inflammatory comments, saying that in the discussion about firearms — the people on the "other side" are more upset about his inaccurate tweet about the meaning of what "AR" stands for, and:

"Not dead children. Not the toxic masculinity that has been an obvious threat linking together many of these mass shooters...not the increasingly organized white supremacists that have now murdered dozens of people across the country."

Adding that, "It's like they've been programmed."

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder spoke of the brutality of MS-13 and the homicides they're linked to in the investigations his department has conducted. He said of Rousseau, "I would love for him to sit down and speak with the victims' families. Tell them that he would have an MS-13 [member] date his daughter."
