Another senior White House official stepping down, according to the Trump administration

The White House announced on Tuesday that deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin will be stepping down from his post next month.

What did they say?

In a statement, President Trump said, "Joe Hagin has been a huge asset to my administration. He planned and executed the longest and one of the most historic foreign trips ever made by a president, and he did it all perfectly.

"We will miss him in the office and even more on the road."

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders added, "Joe Hagin brought a level of expertise and institutional knowledge that is unrivaled. He will be greatly missed by all of us."

Anything more about Hagin?

Mr. Hagin previously served in the Reagan White House, and under both Bush administrations. He is credited with coordinating President Trump's meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore last week.

But the departure of Mr. Hagin may not be a surprise to the Trump Administration — the Associated Press reported that one White House official said Hagin had wanted to resign months ago, but was persuaded by Chief of Staff John Kelly to stick around.

Hagin is said to be returning to the private sector.
