Teen's display of kindness on an airline flight went viral on social media. Here's what she did.

A 15-year-old is being widely recognized for her kindness toward a blind and deaf passenger on a cross-country flight.

How did this unfold?

It happened as Clara Daly was traveling with her mother, Jane, on an Alaska Airlines flight from Boston to Los Angeles last week, CNN reported.

A flight attendant asked over the airplane’s speaker if anyone aboard knew sign language.They were hoping someone could help communicate with Tim Cook, a blind and deaf man who was on his way to Portland after visiting his sister in Boston, the report states.

Clara, who is studying American Sign Language, pressed the call button to notify a flight attendant. Clara said she has "always been fascinated by sign language.”

She was able to communicate with Cook by forming letters with her fingers and allowing him to "read" them with his hands. Clara used the method to help Cook throughout the flight.

"I went to [Cook] a total of three times, once to get him water, another to tell him the time, and the last hour of the flight to just talk to him," Clara told CNN.

Clara had to sign each letter in every word so Cook could feel what she was forming with her hands, the report states.

"We talked about our family in Massachusetts and he asked me about my plans for my future," Clara said.

How did her kindness go viral?

A passenger named Lynette Scribner took a picture of Clara and Cook, then posted it on Facebook. The post was shared nearly 600,000 times as of early Sunday afternoon.

"There are still good, good people who are willing to look out for each other," Scribner wrote.

Alaska Airlines wrote a blog post that indicated a flight attendant said Cook was excited to be have someone help him communicate. He also called Clara an “angel."

Cook resides at a senior living community and someone with the facility picked him up at the gate after the plane landed in Portland, according to the report.

Clara, a Calabasas, California, resident said the social media outpouring is "overwhelmingly lovely."

She's now hoping that what she did goes viral in another way.

"I hope this helps other people realize that in the world we are living in, it is everyone's duty to help each other out, no matter what," Clara told CNN.
