Chris Pratt, who has been preaching about God, surprises police, fans at a fundraiser for cops’ kids

Chris Pratt, the Christian A-list actor who delivered an epic God-centered award acceptance speech last week, surprised police officers and fans alike when he showed up at a charity fundraiser in Vacaville, California, on Saturday.

What happened?

The event — a screening of "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom;" a film in which Pratt stars — was held at a Vacaville movie theater to benefit those members of law enforcement whose children have cancer.

The 39-year-old actor attended the event, which was organized by the Vacaville Police Department and included a charity auction and film screening.

The Vacaville Police Department shared a post Saturday on Facebook, which featured photos of the star — whose brother is a deputy at the Solano County Sheriff's Department — attending the function and visiting with fans and officers.

What did officers say about Pratt's surprise?

The department expressed their appreciation for Pratt's surprise visit, which they said "no one really saw coming," and noted that the room was "filled with both shock and laughter for the entire event."

The department's Facebook post read:

Chris Pratt comes to Vacaville!

We were so excited to be a part of a remarkable event to combine a charitable auction with entertainment that no one really saw coming.

This afternoon, many local community members had purchased tickets to the new "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" movie at the Vacaville Brenden Theaters. These tickets were not just for the movie event however, they also participated in an amazing charity event organized within the local theater to raise money for children of Law Enforcement families suffering from cancer. These incredibly strong, young children who also attended the event have been through unthinkable challenges and the opportunity to help raise money for their families is a priceless event in of itself.

Little did anyone know that the star of the movie Chris Pratt would surprise everyone and show up to participate with the charity auction and even stay to watch the movie! The room was filled with both shock and laughter for the entire event. Most importantly, those who truly needed this fun day got some time to enjoy the festivities alongside their families.

We would like to thank the staff at the Vacaville Brenden Theater, as well as a huge thank you to the Solano County Sheriff's Department who played an intricate role in making this happen! Bruce Simpson from the Brenden Corporate office partnered with Deputy Daniel "Cully" Pratt from the Solano County Sheriff's Department to organize this event. Mr. Simpson is well known among law enforcement communities and works tirelessly to help those in need and those efforts are supported by Brenden Theaters. Deputy Pratt happens to be Chris Pratt's brother, and for sure has some awesome connections! And a special thanks to Chris Pratt for stopping by our wonderful town and putting a smile on all of our faces today!

Did Pratt say anything publicly about the event?

Pratt on Saturday tweeted about his experience at the event.

He wrote, "Just wanna give a special shoutout to Solano County Sheriff's Office, Vacaville Police Department, Vacaville Fire & Bruce Simpson at Brenden Theatre, additionally the two young kids I met today whose fighting spirits encourage me. You’re in my prayers."
