Obama chastises those who silence whites, males because 'somehow they lack standing to speak

Former President Barack Obama uttered a few surprising phrases during a speech Tuesday honoring the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela — and many on the left aren't likely to enjoy them.

Speaking to a crowd in in Johannesburg, South Africa, Obama noted that "democracy demands that we’re able also to get inside the reality of people who are different than us so we can understand their point of view. Maybe we can change their minds, but maybe they’ll change ours."

"And you can’t do this if you just out-of-hand disregard what your opponents have to say from the start,” the Democratic leader continued before offering a zinger related to race and gender.

'Because they’re white, or because they’re male ...'

"And you can’t do it if you insist that those who aren’t like you because they’re white, or because they’re male — that somehow there’s no way they can understand what I’m feeling, that somehow they lack standing to speak on certain matters," Obama said.

A frequently deployed left-wing weapon of late has been shutting down and shaming certain groups — particularly whites and males — because leftists deem them unqualified and unable to relate to those classified as oppressed.

Here's the clip:

'You have to believe in facts'

Without mentioning President Donald Trump by name, Obama also went on a bit of a rant about "objective truth" and lying politicians that got quite a few chuckles from the crowd — but the former president clearly didn't believe his words applied to him or his sociopolitical stances.

"You have to believe in facts," he said. "Without facts there's no basis for cooperation."

Then Obama uttered a statement that would appear to dismantle transgender rights, which say that biological males and females can switch to the opposite genders — and demand the rest of society treats them as such — all because they say so.

"If I say, 'This is a podium,' and you say, 'This is an elephant,' it's going to be hard for us to cooperate," Obama said, as the adoring crowd laughed.

He added, "I can't find common ground if somebody says, 'Climate change is just not happening' when almost all the world's scientists tell us it is. I don't know where to start talking to you about this. If you start saying, 'It's an elaborate hoax,' I don't know ... what ... where do we start?"

'Unfortunately too much of politics today seems to reject the very concept of objective truth'

In a series of statements that seemed to reject the idea of relativism, Obama criticized the current state of politics.

"Unfortunately too much of politics today seems to reject the very concept of objective truth," he said. "People just make stuff up. They just make stuff up. We see it in the growth of state-sponsored propaganda. We see it in internet-driven fabrications. We see it in the blurring of lines between news and entertainment."

'Politicians have always lied'

Obama then called out politicians in a way that appeared to exempt him from the group.

"We see the utter loss of shame among political leaders where they're caught in a lie, and they just double down, and they lie some more," he said, the crowd still laughing. "Look ... politicians have always lied. But it used to be that if you caught 'em lying, they'd be like, 'Aww, man.' Now they just keep on lying."

Not that Obama as commander in chief ever said things like "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" — no, never — but the crowd still loved it.
