Sacha Baron Cohen allegedly kicked out of gun store he tried to dupe: 'You're Borat

As leftists fawn over dupe artist Sacha Baron Cohen and his penchant for making others — mostly conservatives — look foolish on camera, it appears one gun store owner just may have gotten the last laugh over the sly actor-comedian.

Norris Sweidan — owner of Warrior One Guns & Ammo in Riverside, California — told KTTV-TV that Cohen entered his store in disguise last year in an attempt to dupe him.

But Sweidan wasn't falling for it.

He added to the station that Cohen — donning a beard and hat and other props — came into his business with a camera crew in February 2017 claiming to be filming a documentary about a Hungarian immigrant wanting to buy a gun.

And the incident was recorded on surveillance video.

What else allegedly happened?

“He comes in, off the bat you can see [in] the video ... I'm like, 'This guy does not look like a Hungarian immigrant.' Tight-ass leather pants, a beard. It just didn’t fit,” Sweidan told KTTV.

“The moment his words came out of his mouth, I was like, 'This guy is full of s**t,'" he added.

And it was his unorthodox accent that Sweidan found fake.

“I’m looking at the producer, and I’m just like, 'Am I being fooled right here?'" Sweidan recounted to KTTV. “And I just kept looking at the guy, and I was like, 'You’re Borat.'"

A satisfying moment

Sweidan added to the station that as soon as he uttered the name "Borat," the individual just looked at him and headed "right out the door.”

In fact, the gun store owner told KTTV the supposed Hungarian immigrant left his production crew behind.

“We’re talking to the people; they don’t wanna give us an answer," Sweidan recalled to the station. "We basically told them to 'get the f*** out. ... You guys are all full of s**t. Have a great day. Get out.'"

'We already know his game'

In Sweidan's mind, there's no doubt what the guy was gunning to do.

“Once I knew it was Borat, we already know his game ... so we knew that he’s here to make a mockery," Sweidan told KTTV. "And make a mockery of what? Gun owners? The gun business? Gun shops?”

He told the station he believes Cohen meant to use footage from the encounter as part of his highly publicized new Showtime program, “Who is America?” The show's first episode depicted some gun rights advocates promoting arming children while Cohen donned an Israeli disguise, KTTV said.

“You’ve got some gun advocate holding a bunny on some gun?" Sweidan told the station in disgust. "If you’re a gun advocate, what the f*** are you doin' holding a gun with a bunny on it? Really?”

He added to KTTV that he believes Cohen targeted his store because it's well known and putting together its own program, "Down the Barrel."

'He was fake'

Sweidan told the station the joke was on Cohen and Showtime.

“He was fake, the producers were fake, the show was fake, and Showtime is fake to be honest with you,” he told KTTV. “They want a real story? Come talk to us. We'll give you a real story.”

What was Showtime's response?

Showtime told KTTV it had no comment about the incident in Warrior One Guns & Ammo.
