Whoopi Goldberg hits back at Jeanine Pirro, responds to claims she verbally berated, spit at Pirro

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of ABC's "The View," responded on Friday to allegations that she verbally berated — and even spit at — Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who appeared on "The View" Thursday.

Pirro alleged that after her segment on "The View" concluded, she and Goldberg had a confrontation backstage, where Goldberg cursed, spat, and screamed at her "like a dog who was just kicked off."

What did Goldberg say?

In her response, Goldberg confirmed many of Pirro's claims, denied others and made several of her own.

"I can tell you what went on. She was upset when she got here because Ana Navarro was here instead of Joy [Behar]. After the segment, which ended when it was supposed to — it was not early, not late – she called everybody at the table a name I cannot repeat on TV and said it in front of the audience," Goldberg said.

Goldberg admitted that after the contentious segment, she was "a little hot," but claimed it was Pirro who confronted her. And while Goldberg admits to using "choice words" during the confrontation, she denied spitting on Pirro.

"She came off, She could have just passed me. She didn't need to stop. But she stopped and put her finger in my face. And yelled, ‘I've done more for victims than you ever will.' Then I said to her some few choice words I cannot repeat. Yes, I did say it. I did say it. But I did not spit on her. I did not intimidate her. No one chased her out of here, saying ‘get out.' But she did leave here cursing at the people who booked the show. She cursed at the guys who do the security for the show," Goldberg explained.

Citing sources who work on "The View," the New York post confirmed Goldberg's account of what happened. One source said Pirro arrived to the set "looking for a fight." Others said she was angry that anti-Trump commentator Ana Navarro would be on the same segments as her.

Goldberg later said Pirro's actions after her appearance were indicative of her character, claiming people who know Pirro privately "know exactly what I'm talking about."

In the end, Goldberg said she apologized for what happened.

"I got stirred up yesterday. I did apologize for getting hot," she said.
