Chris Pratt denies Hollywood is anti-Christian, reveals why he’s been so vocal about his faith

A-list actor Chris Pratt has denied that Hollywood is anti-Christian or anti-religion, and revealed why he's been so outspoken about his own Christian faith as of late.

What are the details?

In an interview with The Associated Press, Pratt said that he doesn't believe Hollywood is judgmental for someone having a religion or belief system, and, contrarily, is pretty easygoing with the entire notion.

"I think that there's this narrative that exists out there that Hollywood is anti-Christian or anti-religious, but it's just not the case," the "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor explained. "They are kind of not anti-anything. They are kind of pro-whatever is authentic to you.

"I like that," he added. "Because it's authentic for me to be pro-Christian, pro-Jesus. That's my thing. I like it. And I've never had anyone try to shame me to my face."

Pratt added that even if others were to spew negativity about his faith behind his back, he wouldn't care.

"If that's the case, go ahead," he challenged. "You can say whatever you want about me, to my face or behind my back. I'm not going to change."

The actor also touched upon what motivates him to speak out on his faith in very public arenas, such as awards shows and during awards acceptance speeches.

"I don’t know that I am so much more motivated by where the world is or if it’s just what I’m feeling called to do right now," he mused. "I think it’s a combination of both things. ... That kind of a message, it might not be for everybody. But there is a group of people for whom that message is designed."

Pratt added that there are fewer things more fulfilling than being able to hit the right spot at the right time.

"Nothing fills my soul more than to think that maybe some kid watching that would say, ‘Hey, I’ve been thinking about that. I’ve been thinking about praying. Let me try that out,'" he explained. "That’s like the only way I feel like I can repay what has essentially been a giant gift in my life."

What's he been saying, anyway?

In August, Pratt accepted an award at the Teen Choice Awards, and embarked on an impassioned speech about loving God.

"I’m so thrilled to be here; I have not been a teen for quite some time," Pratt said during the speech. “This means a lot to me.

“I want to thank God. I always do that when I’m up on a big platform in front of a bunch of young faces,” the actor added. “I love God. That’s my thing, I love him! And you should too!”

In June, Pratt delivered another moving speech about God’s love and prayer during an acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards.

The star told those in attendance, as well as those watching the broadcast, that “God is real.”

He went on to offer some of his own personal rules to live by in a faith-filled list.

One such piece of advice was, “You have a soul. Be careful with it.” He later added, “God is real. God loves you, God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do.”

“Learn to pray. It’s easy, and it’s so good for your soul,” Pratt also said, and went on to laud God’s perfect design.
