Armed robbers demand cash from man. But victim wrestles gun away; makes one perp pay ultimate price.
November 19, 2018
A pair of armed robbers approached a man on a Detroit street last Monday night demanding cash, police told WXYZ-TV — and it went downhill from there for the perpetrators.
The victim wasn't as easy a mark as the pair likely figured, as he wrestled the gun away from one of the suspects on Annott Street, the station said — and he killed one of them and wounded the other.
“For these individuals that may be thinking about robbing somebody, it’s always possible that you end up getting harmed yourself,” Captain Michael McGinnis said during a news conference about the incident.
Commander Elaine Bryant said they believe a third person — a female — may have planned the attempted robbery, WXYZ said, adding that she's in custody along with the wounded suspect.
Turns out that after the female came in for questioning she apparently changed her mind and walked out the door, Bryant said, adding that she was later "recovered."
The victim is cooperating with police, the station reported.
