Ocasio-Cortez blocks Ohio lawmaker on Twitter over mockery of her latest gaffe

A Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives implied that he was blocked on Twitter by socialist upstart Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) over mockery of her latest gaffe.

Here's what happened

Rep. Niraj Antani (R-Ohio) posted a screenshot from his social media account indicating that he was blocked by Ocasio-Cortez after a mini-feud over an odd statement she made about the three branches of the U.S. government.

Ocasio-Cortez posted a video where she discussed the necessity of the Democrats having to reclaim all three "chambers" of government.

"If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress," she said, "uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House, in 2020, we can't start working in 2020."

Ocasio-Cortez was widely mocked by the right for misidentifying the three branches, not chambers, of government — the legislative, the executive, and the judiciary.

'Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me'

That mockery came also in the form of a relatively tame tweet from a member of Ohio's House, Rep. Antani.

"What is a chamber of government, @Ocasio2018?" he tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez angrily responded to the tweet from Antani, and then, apparently blocked him from viewing her account.

"Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd [sic]," she fired back without spell-checking, "they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make: that they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare."

On Monday, Ocasio-Cortez also rejected a letter from Democrats opposing the campaign from Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to retake the speakership after Democrats won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.

[Editor's note: This article has been edited to reflect that Antani is a member of the Ohio state House of Representatives, not the U.S. House. We regret the error.]
