Former Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was found by police allegedly extremely inebriated in a Miami Beach hotel room with two other people and some crystal meth early Friday morning, according to a Miami Beach PD incident report.

Gillum, who was previously the mayor of Tallahassee, was not arrested. But police say when they arrived on the scene to address a possible drug overdose, Gillum was so intoxicated that they couldn't even communicate with him.

Gillum is listed as an "involved other" in the incident report.

Aldo Mejias told police he gave his credit card to a man named Travis Dyson to book a hotel room in Miami Beach. When Mejias arrived, he found Dyson and Andrew Gillum in the room "under the influence of an unknown substance."

Mejias said Dyson "collapsed in a prone position" on the bed, and Gillum was in the bathroom vomiting. Dyson was struggling to breathe, so Mejias called police and fire rescue.

Gillum was unable to speak to officers "due to his inebriated state," according to the incident report.

"Inside of the hotel room, officers observed in plain sight three small clear plastic baggies containing suspected crystal meth on both the bed and floor of the hotel room," the incident report stated.

The report also states, notably, that Gillum, previously claimed to be incapacitated due to an unknown substance, "left the hotel room and returned to his residence without incident."

Gillum issued a statement Friday claiming he had too much to drink.

"I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends," Gillum said. "While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines."

The Miami Beach Police Department has not yet responded to multiple inquiries by TheBlaze for more details on the incident.
