'If I get corona, I get corona' — spring break partiers go viral for ignoring coronavirus risks

'I'm not gonna let it stop me from partying'

An interview with a young man ignoring the risks of coronavirus in favor of his spring break antics went viral as the entire internet scolded him for his selfish behavior.

The interview with Brady Sluder at Miami, Florida, was published by CBS News.

"If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I'm not gonna let it stop me from partying," said Sluder to Reuters.

"You know I've been waiting, we've been waiting for Miami spring break for a while, about two months we've had this trip planned, two, three months, and we're just out here having a good time, whatever happens happens," he added helpfully.

Other partygoers lamented the closing of bars and said the virus was being blown out of proportion.

Social media backlash

Critics on social media disagreed, with many blaming the youth of the interviewees for their lack of concern for those who might suffer because of the spread of coronavirus.

The video garnered more than 7 million views on Twitter, with more than 11,000 responses in just four hours after publication.

"Brady Sluder, coronavirus expert, doesn't even know how to apply sunscreen," said Ryan McGee of ESPN.

"This guy definitely fulfilling his destiny that was thrust upon him the moment he was born and given the name Brady Sluder," joked David Malitz, the deputy features editor of the Washington Post.

"To the future children of Brady Sluder..sorry, it's not your fault that your dad was an a-hole," responded feminist activist Kathy Savitt.

Videos of large crowds from Clearwater Beach and Ft. Lauderdale Beach have also set social media scolds aflame.
