DC Comics reveals new trans non-binary superhero named 'Circuit Breaker': 'Trans, but not super into the binary'

DC Comics recently announced that it would release a comic book series on Valentine's Day featuring a new transgender non-binary superhero named "Circuit Breaker," Fox News Digital reported.

In a January Twitter post, Alan Kaplan, "a cartoonist who digs gay psychedelia, horror, and superheroes," revealed the new DC character and identified the superhero's pronouns as "he/they."

"Meet Jules Jourdain (he/they, aka Circuit Breaker. 'Can a new hero channel the inexorable Still Force energy to fend off evil?'" Kaplan wrote.

When asked by a Twitter user about Circuit Breaker's gender identity, Kaplan replied, "Trans, but not super into the binary."

DC Comics editor Andre Shea stated on social media that the transgender non-binary superhero is sure to become a "new favorite" alongside Superman and Batman.

Shea credited Kaplan for "breath[ing] life into Jules Jourdain's first adventure this February, in which our new hero is blessed (or cursed?) with the dreaded Still Force during Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate."

"Still Force" energy is described as the opposite of "Speed Force," which is the superpower of the famous DC hero the Flash. However, the comic book company has not yet released additional information about Circuit Breaker's powers.

Shea described the new superhero as "the prettiest and most fabulous cowboy" and noted that DC Comics is "so lucky for the brilliance and care and love that Alan built into Jules' story and world."

"Working with @alkcomics as he developed this amazing new character and we planned the road ahead has been a non-stop joy ride," Shea wrote.

On January 21, DC Comics announced Circuit Breaker's debut on February 14 but failed to mention that the superhero identifies as transgender or non-binary.

One Twitter user replied to the comic book company's announcement asking, "Hey DC you're not gonna let us know this is a trans character? What's up with that? You're not gonna stand by your creation?"

Fox News Digital reported that the new superhero's official synopsis also did not mention the character's gender identity.

"NEW THREATS WILL RISE! When the Lazarus storm touches down, people from every walk of life stand to be affected," the synopsis stated. "People who are kind, people who are good…and people who are evil. This epic issue will spotlight the…disastrous new villains created by the Lazarus event and the heroes who stand ready to stop them from doing harm."

DC Comics has repeatedly come under fire for pushing woke agendas and transgender ideology.

In January, the comic book company was mocked for featuring a new storyline in which Batman villain the Joker, becomes pregnant and gives birth.

DC Comics announced in 2021 that Superman's son was bisexual and introduced a storyline where he entered into a relationship with another man. That same year, the company also changed Superman's motto from "truth, justice and the American way" to "truth, justice and a better tomorrow."
