Democrat Swalwell braves the cold to show his disdain for Trump — and Twitter mocks him mercilessly

The "resistance" is pretty low on ideas these days

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California tried to show off his latest act of anti-Trump protest, but the reaction on social media was merciless mockery and ridicule.

Swalwell posted that he was spurning the coffee at Trump Tower and braving the snow in New York to find another source of coffee.

He added a photo of his courageous plight:

While the tweet received more than 5.3K retweets in support, but got more than 24K in responses, many of them ridicule of his moral opposition to Trump Tower coffee.

"Just like Normandy," mocked conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.

"Please. It's New York, there are coffee shops everywhere. You just wanted to post about Trump and be dramatic. Sad!" said Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe.

"History will long remember this day," responded Caleb Howe. "The March of the Starbucks Martyr, they'll say. We live in blessed times."

"Sir, your courage is an inspiration to us all," said Matt Walsh.

"Being a member of Congress now means getting zero work done and constantly trying to turn yourself into a meme," replied Jason Howerton. "Cringe."

"Thoughts and prayers to you on this stunning and brave journey, sir!" said Amber Athey.

Many of those laughing at Swalwell's tweet pointed out that there are more than enough coffee shops nearby.

One person from the left admired Swalwell's tweet for the avalanche of criticism it received.

"When you piss off Trump world as you did with this tweet you are doing something good!!" responded Muslim comedian Dean Obeidallah.

This isn't the first time Swalwell has been mocked online for his social media missives. In November, he tweeted off-handedly that the government could use nuclear weaponry against its own citizens if they rose up in defense of gun rights.
