New poll finds four Democrat politicians with very low approval ratings, but one Republican with the worst
December 27, 2021
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) were among the politicians who were rated lowest in approval by Americans surveyed in a new poll.
The poll, from Gallup, asked a sample of Americans to rate 11 national politicians in approval of their policies.
At the bottom of the poll were four Democrats, but the worst was McConnell, who received only a 34% approval rating and disapproval from 63% of Americans.
Pelosi was next, with only 40% of Americans approving of how she is handling her job and 58% disapproving.
Third from the bottom was President Joe Biden (D), who had an approval rating of 43% and a disapproval rating of 51%.
Vice President Kamala Harris was fourth on the list, with 44% approval and 54% disapproval.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) fared slightly better than Harris, with 44% approval and 53% disapproval.
The most popular political figure in the poll was Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, who was nominated to the highest court by former President George W. Bush. 60% of Americans polled said that they approved of how Roberts is handling his job, while only 34% said they disapproved of how he is handling his job.
Among those with a divided response in the poll was Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who received an approval rating of 52% and a disapproval rating of 47%.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) had an approval rating of 46% from Americans polled, while 49% said they disapproved of the job he's doing.
The Gallup poll was taken between Dec. 1 and Dec. 16. Former President Donald Trump was not included in the list of politicians covered by the poll.
