Jim Comey castigates Republicans after testifying - but refuses to answer a key question

He is angry at Republicans

Former FBI Director James Comey addressed the media after testifying before Congress Monday, and castigated Republicans who weren't speaking out, but neglected to answer one key question about his own behavior.

Comey angrily denounced Republicans for focusing on Hillary Clinton's emails and the infamous Trump dossier while the president was undermining and attacking the FBI.

"At some point, someone has to stand up and in the face of fear of Fox News," he told the media, "fear of their base, fear of mean tweets, stand up for the values of this country, and not slink away into retirement, but stand up and speak the truth!

"I find it frustrating to be here answering questions about things that are far less important than the values that this country is built upon," he concluded before taking questions from the media.

"This is the President of the United States calling a witness, who has cooperated with his own DOJ, a rat," he said in answer to a question. "Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, you have to stand on your feet, overcome your shame and say something."

Here's the video of his statement and the answers he took from the media:

'I'm not gonna talk about it...'

Comey refused to respond to the query from Fox News' Catherine Herridge at the media briefing after defending the reputation of the FBI, which he says was falsely smeared by the Trump administration and its allies.

"I'm very proud of the way the FBI conducted itself," Comey told the media. "Agile, flexible, thoughtful, pursued the leads where'd you want us to."

"Maybe for you or your attorney," said Herridge, "my understanding is that when you shared your memos with your legal team that there was a follow up for a classified containment operation by the bureau."

"Was there a spill of classified information when you shared those memos?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm not gonna talk about something like that," he flatly refused and tried to move on to another question.

"Well that's important to talk about, whether classified information was mishandled," Herridge interjected.

"Whether you think it is or not, I'm not gonna talk about it one way or another," he responded.

Here's the interaction between Herridge and Comey:
