New post-debate poll shows two winners, and one very big loser in Democratic race

The race is shaping up

A new poll of Democratic voters about the presidential campaign race shows two candidates gaining big, but at the expense of one candidate who has collapsed.

Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) gained in support, according to the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, but Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) saw the greatest drop in support from voters.

The former vice president strengthened his lead by 5 percentage points from 26 percent to 31 percent in the new poll. Warren jumped by 6 percent points from 19 percent to 25 percent.

In third place, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) slightly improved from 13 percent to 14 percent.

But Harris dropped a whopping 8 percentage points all the way past Mayor Pete Buttigieg to fifth place at 4 percent.

Entrepreneur Andrew Yang doubled his support from 2 percent to 4 percent after announcing the third debate that he was handing out thousands of dollars to randomly selected supporters. Campaign finance experts wondered aloud if the move was even legal.

Biden has been hindered by numerous gaffes that he has made during the campaign trail, but he has kept the top spot among Democratic voters believing a more moderate establishment candidate has a better chance in 2020.
