Comedian Kathy Griffin declares, 'If you don't want a Civil War, vote for Democrats,' but 'If you do want Civil War, vote Republican'

Comedian Kathy Griffin posted a tweet on Tuesday declaring that people who do not want the U.S. to descend into civil war should support Democrats during the 2022 midterm election, while those who want a civil war should back the GOP.

"If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican," Griffin tweeted.

Some on social media suggested that Griffin's post represented a threat, though the comedian pushed back against that idea.

"This is WRONG. Crazy Hollywood Leftie threatening 'Civil War' if Dems don’t win. Sadly, this is today’s Left: angry, hateful & violent," GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas tweeted.

"So the logic of this tweet is that the left will start a civil war if Republicans win?" tweeted Vince Coglianese, who hosts a radio program and is the Daily Caller's editorial director.

In 2017, Griffin posed while holding an object meant to resemble a bloody version of President Donald Trump's head.

An individual replied to Griffin's "Civil War" tweet on Tuesday by sharing that bloody head photo and commenting, "We had your civil war for six years now. We're used to it." Griffin responded by posting clown emojis.

Responding to Griffin's post about the 2022 elections, Kristina Wong of Breitbart remarked that the tweet "sounds like a threat."

Griffin responded to Wong's post by writing, "You guys. The maga blue checks are at it again. Because they are constantly threatening Civil War, they are now trying to suggest that I am the one who is threatening a Civil War. Because you know, that’s my thing," the comedian wrote, adding in an eye-roll emoji.

Griffin retweeted and thanked an individual who wrote, "People purposefully misconstruing what Kathy Griffin tweeted is so 2022. She means that Reps WANT civil war and Dems don't. It's not a threat, it's an observation."

Earlier this year Griffin described billionaire business magnate Elon Musk as "a Piers Morgan level media thirsty, vindictive, white supremacist who is looking to convince you he is an innovative disruptor."
