Lindsey Graham goes on fiery tirade against ‘anti-Semitic,’ un-American congresswomen — but tells Trump to ‘aim higher’

The South Carolina senator has spoken

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) hit out at the four Democratic freshman congresswomen that President Donald Trump previously spoke out against, calling them "anti-Semitic" and un-American.

Graham also took the opportunity to chastise Trump for going on the offensive against the four women, suggesting that he "aim higher."

What's a brief background on this?

On Sunday, Trump was accused of racism after suggesting on Twitter that progressive congresswomen should "go back" to countries they "originally came from." Although the president did not name names, the tweets were most likely directed at Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).

In a series of tweets, Trump said, "So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run."

He added, "Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can't leave fast enough. I'm sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

What is Graham saying?

On Monday morning, Graham offered his perspective on the weekend's political melee.

Graham said that although the four Democratic congresswomen "are American citizens" who were "duly elected," their incessant personal attacks against the president were counterproductive. Graham added that the women's continual comments, however, were un-American and "anti-Semitic."

"AOC and this crowd are a bunch of communists," he spat. "They hate Israel. They hate our own country.

"They're calling the guards along our border, Border Patrol agents concentration camp guards," he said. "They accuse people support Israel doing it for the Benjamins. They're anti-Semitic. They're anti-America.

"Don't get down, aim higher," he advised the president. "We don't need to know anything about them personally. Talk about their policies."
