Reporter mocks Marco Rubio after the senator appeared at Trump's Orlando rally. Rubio shuts it down fast.

Witty retorts

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio hit back at a reporter who called him out for smiling at President Donald Trump's Tuesday night campaign rally in Orlando, Florida.

Rubio, who faced off as a candidate against Trump during the 2016 presidential election, has never pulled punches about his thoughts on the president and would often trade barbs with the president throughout the election.

What are the details?

New York Times reporter Michael Barbaro tweeted about Rubio's appearance Tuesday night.

Barbaro wrote, "Very strange, for those of who covered 2016 campaign, to see Sen Marco Rubio smiling and chuckling in this audience."

Rubio fired back with sarcasm.

He responded, "BREAKING[.] In an unprecedented move a Republican Senator attended a rally in his home state in support of the re-election of a Republican President."

He later added, "BTW, this is the same reporter who in 2015 after 3 weeks of meticulous investigative journalism uncovered that my wife had traffic tickets, I had a fishing boat & my home has big windows. And in 2016 he broke the story that I had some boots with [a] higher heel."

He wasn't done there, though.

Rubio later spoke about Trump administration policies with which he agreed.

"As opposed to smiling & chuckling at a rally for a radical liberal candidate for President who will undo policies to confront China, reduce regulations & taxes, defend liberty in Venezuela & protect the unborn?" he added.
