Roller coaster paused and eventually evacuated because 1 passenger wanted off

One person on a roller coaster in a California amusement park recently spoiled some of the fun when he or she demanded that the ride be brought to a halt, forcing everyone to disembark.

Just after 4 p.m. last Friday, one passenger on the Silver Bullet roller coaster at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, apparently regretted the decision to climb aboard. Just how the person managed to inform ride managers about his or her misgivings remains unclear, but just as the riders were ascending a steep hill, anticipating a speedy descent, the ride came to a halt so that it could be evacuated.

Some theme park visitors took videos of the incident and shared them on social media. The following video shows park employees assisting some passengers as they exited the ride while their fellow thrill-seekers remained dangling in midair:

The park later issued a statement confirming some details about the incident. "On Friday, May 26, at approximately 4.15pm, the ride Silver Bullet stopped with guests onboard," the statement said. "A guest indicated they wanted to get off the attraction, park personnel responded immediately, and all guests onboard exited safely following standard exiting procedure."

There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the ride evacuation, the Fox News claimed. The passenger who initiated the stoppage is not believed to have been injured at the time the ride began, and there have been no reports that he or she had been experiencing a medical issue either.

Even after all passengers had been safely returned to the ride's platform, Silver Bullet remained closed temporarily. It began operating once again less than 30 minutes after the incident, a park spokesperson said.

Silver Bullet, which first opened nearly 20 years ago, is one of several roller coasters at Knott's Berry Farm and offers riders lots of thrills and chills in just over two minutes. The ride begins with a swift 109-foot drop and then speeds along a track with six inversions, including two corkscrews, overlooking a reflecting lake. The park gives Silver Bullet its highest "thrill level" rating.
