Whoopi demands law 'deputizing citizens' to snitch on pro-gun neighbors: 'They’re going to come for those AR-15s'

Whoopi Goldberg suggested Wednesday on "The View" that Americans should be deputized to snitch on their gun-toting neighbors.

The comments came as gun control advocates search for solutions after yet another mass killing shook the nation. This time, the killer took the lives of 19 schoolchildren, two adult teachers, and left more than a dozen others injured.

What did Goldberg say?

While the panel discussed the tragic massacre (and mostly blamed Republicans), Goldberg said the U.S. should adopt an anti-gun law similar to Texas' controversial abortion law.

"I want to thank Governor Abbott because he signed 22 bills this year making it easier for mass shooters to buy, carry, and own guns in his state," Goldberg began.

"Let's apply his abortion laws to guns, deputizing citizens to sue anyone involved in gun violence," she continued. "So you sold an AR-15 at the gun show? See you in court. Does your neighbor have too big an arsenal? Call the cops."

Goldberg then invoked "some Supreme Court logic."

"[Supreme Court Justice Samuel] Alito says abortion’s not in the Constitution, well neither are AR-15s. So, I guess the Constitution doesn’t cover them either," she said. "Life is so sacred, then stop using guns to abort young lives. Stop using guns—"

Co-host Joy Behar interrupted Goldberg's rant and said that Americans need to stop voting for Republicans altogether. But Goldberg actually pushed back, saying Americans should not stop voting for the GOP, but that they need to elect "better Republicans."

So what is a "better Republican"? According to Goldberg, they are politicians who support outlawing AR-15 rifles.

"Get people who are going to look and say, 'OK, we don’t have to have AR-15s, but I want to keep my shotgun because I still hunt. OK. You can have your shotgun, but you can’t have your AR-15. If you are going to get all in my business and tell me what my family can and cannot do, neither can you," she said.

"They’re going to come for those AR-15s and you better get ready to give them up because this is America," she warned. "We were supposed to be able to do things and be the people we wanted to be, and now we are in a crazy place."

After invoking the Sandy Hook tragedy, Goldberg declared that it is time for the American people to rise up and take the issue of gun control to the courts.

"I think it’s time for the people to say, we’re going to take this to the courts, and we’re going to make you give these guns up because you don’t need to have them," she declared.
