Vehicle sinks to the bottom of the river

A Georgia woman was so terrified after a spider crawled onto her lap that she jumped out of her vehicle — without putting it in park.

Then, her vehicle rolled into the Etowah River, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

What happened?

On Sunday, the unidentified woman was attempting to back her Kia van down a boat ramp when the spider landed in her lap, according to officials. She had planned to put her kayak in the water at Neel's Landing Boat Launch in Kingston, which is about 56 miles north of Atlanta.

The Georgia State Patrol dispatched troopers to help the woman, but by the time they arrived on the scene, the van was long gone.

"She stated that it floated downstream a few feet," a GSP spokesman told the Journal-Constitution. "And within seconds, it was totally submerged. A passerby in a boat attempted to locate the van, but without success."

A dive team plans to locate the sunken van and have it towed from the river. The woman's car insurance is reportedly expected to cover the cost of finding the vehicle.
