Activism, not journalism …

Living up to its sordid history as a propaganda outlet, the New York Times has once again chosen activism over journalism. Over the weekend, the nation's so-called "paper of record" released a "bombshell" story about Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's actions in college. The problem is, the story left out the part where the woman he supposedly did something lewd in front of doesn't recall it.

Late Sunday night, the Times added an editor's note to its story saying that the female student didn't recall the incident. This was after a firestorm all weekend and multiple Democrats calling for Kavanaugh's impeachment.

The Times has succeeded in what it set out to do: re-ignite controversy over the Kavanaugh confirmation. No amount of backtracking will put that genie back in the bottle. On Monday morning, after the retraction, House member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez kept up the calls for impeachment.

The Times sought to further smear Kavanaugh for two reasons. First, to taint any decisions he may rule on. Second, with Ruth Bader Ginsburg's frail health, to scare other people from seeking a seat on the high court.

This is leftist activism, not journalism.

Speaking of activism …

CNN media cheerleader/critic Brian Stelter is at it again. Last week, his colleague Jim Sciutto, a former Obama administration official, reported that a Russian asset needed to be extracted from Moscow because the CIA was afraid that Trump would inadvertently out him. The problem is that multiple other news organizations, even including the NY Times, disputed CNN's reporting. That didn't stop Stelter from claiming that conservative media was trying to "tear down" Sciutto's reporting.

The New York Times reported that the media were to blame for discussions about whether or not to extract the spy in 2016, before Trump was president.

C.I.A. officials worried about safety made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia. The situation grew more tense when the informant at first refused, citing family concerns — prompting consternation at C.I.A. headquarters and sowing doubts among some American counterintelligence officials about the informant's trustworthiness. But the C.I.A. pressed again months later after more media inquiries. This time, the informant agreed.

It was the media, not Trump, that were the cause for the extraction offer. That doesn't fit Stelter's and Sciutto's narrative. So of course they'd keep to their story.

Stelter must be shocked to realize that this wasn't conservative media. It was his co-propagandists not willing to go as far as he and Sciutto in offering easily debunked fake news.
