Cheered it on …
On Saturday, violent leftist Antifa thugs proved they are the real fascists. A group of Antifa violently attacked journalist Andy Ngo and others in Portland, Oregon, (the account that shared video of other attacks has been suspended by Twitter, here is an archived version). These brutal goons were cheered on by leftist keyboard warrior journalists. Those cheering on Antifa were a who's who of progressive journalists.
Then there was Vox's Carlos Maza, who openly called for YouTube to deplatform BlazeTV host Steven Crowder (BlazeTV, like TheBlaze, is owned by Blaze Media) and also, back in May, called for people to milkshake conservatives in public. The Portland violence included Antifa thugs throwing milkshakes at Ngo and others that the Portland police say also contained quick-setting cement.
Blue-check "journalist" Dan O'Sullivan responded to Jake Tapper's denunciation of the attacks by tweeting that "Andy Ngo is not a journalist."
While Tapper and CNN media critic/cheerleader Brian Stelter are denouncing the violence, their CNN colleagues have routinely taken Antifa's side in the past. In August 2018, Chris Cuomo defended Antifa, saying, "People who show up to fight against bigots are not to be judged the same as the bigots, even if they do resort to the same petty violence." Cuomo added, "Fighting against hate matters." In April, Cuomo again defended the violent leftist thugs.
Just as with the gunman who traveled to a congressional baseball practice juiced up on the hate he saw on Rachel Maddow's program, people like Cuomo, Maza, O'Sullivan, and others give Antifa legitimacy. They encourage and excuse the violence we saw in Portland over the weekend.
These journalists have blood on their keyboards. They should be held to account for it.
