Rabbi Lapin: Why government should have an interest in stable marriages

A country’s government should have a substantive interest in promoting strong and stable marriages among its citizens.  Tax laws that favor married couples over cohabiting singles should be valid and desirable to maintain a thriving society. In this episode, Rabbi Daniel Lapin discussed why governments should have a vested interest in successful marriages and champion the strongest institution known to man.

"The more things change, the more we need to depend on those things that never change," said Rabbi Lapin.

"Understanding the role of marriage in civilized life and understanding the role of money in marriage -- these are things that never change. We might think we're very sophisticated, and we probably are in technological areas, but just because people can use hooking up apps on their telephones, doesn't mean that anything has changed, fundamentally, in what deep down goes on in the heart of a man and in the heart of a woman in the areas of their interaction both sexually, romantically, and financially."
