Hardcore PORN course offered to 'contemplate' the  sexualization of race, class, and gender

This just sounds like an excuse to watch porn

What usually comes to mind when you think about the state of Utah? Most people would say The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints comes to mind, so this story threw many of us for a loop.

Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, offered an elective summer course to students called "Film 3000 – Porn." According to the online course description (which has since been removed from the college's website):

FILM 3000 - Porn: Hardcore pornography is as American as apple pie and more popular than Sunday night football. Our approach to this billion-dollar industry is a cultural phenomenon that reflects and reinforces sexual inequities (but holds the potential to challenge sexual gender norms) and as an art form that requires serious contemplation. We will watch pornographic films together and discuss the sexualization of race, class, and gender as an experimental, radical.

According to ABC4, May summer term courses offered by this private institution are "designed to provide courses that are different from the norm every year, including this one." The course was an optional elective course at Westminster.

One student told KSLnews, "I don't think it's that big of a deal." Another student said, "I feel like many of my friends are super sex-positive, and we talk about this stuff all the time."

Steven Crowder was shocked by this story and discussed it in this episode of "Louder with Crowder."

"Mormons and porn don't usually go together," Crowder joked. "Have you seen Mormon pornography? It's very boring."

Crowder ended on a serious note and explained that he is very much "anti-pornography."

"Here's the thing, I'm anti-pornography, to be precise. People can be anti-pornography and still feel the pull of pornography. Every single man in 2022 has had an issue with pornography in one fashion or another if you've ever used a web browser. It's a stupid class. It's a dumb professor. It's a silly school for doing it."
