A recently released Microsoft commercial that celebrates the holidays by featuring a children’s choir harmoniously performing the popular song, “Let There Be Peace on Earth” is likely to instill joy and calmness — but you might notice that there’s a key line missing from the lyrics.
As members of a New York City choir — who are joined by Microsoft employees from across the nation — are seen singing the song to employees of a nearby Apple store, it becomes evident that something’s missing from the lyrics.
It’s this key line: “With God as our Father, brothers all are we, Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.”
Instead, the singers seemingly skip from “The peace that was meant to be” to the line, “Let peace begin with me,” the Christian Post reported.

An official description of the clip makes no mention of the lyrical change, though this is not the first time amendments have been made to “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” as more gender-neutral options have been used in the past.
“To celebrate the holidays, Microsoft employees, who were selected from across the country, gathered together, meeting each other for the first time, at the new Microsoft 5th Ave Store to spread some holiday wishes,” reads an official description of the video. “Joined by a local NYC children’s youth choir, they share a message of peace and harmony with their neighbor down the street.”
A “behind the scenes” video that was uploaded three days after the commercial went live, though, does show the choir including the line about God, the Christian Post noted.
