Fox Uses Graphics to Fact Check Trump at GOP Debate in Real-Time: 'The Numbers Don't Add Up

"Please bring up fullscreen number four."

Donald Trump was cross-examined by Fox News' Chris Wallace at tonight's GOP debate on his plans to fix the federal deficit, utilizing slides to point out that "the numbers don't add up."

The businessman and 2016 front-runner was asked about his specific plans to decrease the budget deficit, and he pointed to plans to cut the U.S. Education Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.

But Wallace came prepared for Trump's answer, throwing up a slide on the screen that points out that those two things would barely make a dent in the debt.

"Mr. Trump, your numbers don't add up. Please bring up fullscreen number four," Wallace said, arguing that making cuts to those two agencies would still leave nearly $500 billion in debt unaccounted for. "That's more than a half-trillion dollars. The numbers don't add up."

Trump added that pharmaceutical companies are over-charging the government by billions.

"You're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars if we went out to the proper bidder," Trump said.

"No you're not sir. Let's put up full screen number two," Wallace said, prompting cheers from the debate audience. "You say that Medicare could save $300 billion a year in negotiating lower drug prices. But Medicare total only spends $78 billion a year on drugs. Sir, that's the facts."

Trump tried to explain: "I'm not only talking about drugs, I'm talking about other things, we'll save more than $300 billion a year if we properly negotiate. We don't do that. We don't negotiate. We don't negotiate anything."
