Pandora, the streaming subscription music service with the mission statement, “Our mission is to play music you’ll love,” found itself in the middle of a controversy after posting a statement on social media Friday supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and “racial justice.”
Our hearts ache for all those who unfairly lost their lives. We stand for marginalized communities. We stand for racial justice. We stand for equality. And we stand together to make this world a better place. #BlackLivesMatter #LoveAboveAll

Pandora’s political statement sparked immediate reaction, much of it negative.
The Fort Worth Police Officers Association Twitter account called for those who support law enforcement to delete their Pandora accounts.

The widow of a fallen police officer posted her disapproval of the statement on Facebook, vowing to cancel her account.
Friends and fans of law enforcement also responded.
@pandora_radio poor business decision, just deleted your app and so did my wife. I will pass the word to all my blue friends

At least one person claiming to be a Pandora advertiser was not happy about the post, vowing to cancel ads and calling for an apology. (The comment has been updated since this story was originally published.)
Many Pandora users saw the company’s statement as support for a “terrorist” organization.

Some angered by the Pandora position did more than call for a boycott. This former Pandora customer posted proof of his cancellation of the service.

Social media firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos added his support to those advocating a boycott of Pandora.

However, not everyone disagreed with Pandora’s position.
