WATCH: A prime example of gun control in recent US history

On Wednesday's radio program, Pat Gray, Keith Malinak, and Jeff Fisher discussed crime statistics in relation to past gun confiscation efforts and reminded Americans of a prime example in U.S. history: The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

In this clip, Pat explained FBI statistics recently released that showed more people were killed with hammers and clubs than with rifles of all kinds in 2017.

The FBI reported the following crime stats:

  • 487 people were killed with blunt objects (hammers, clubs, etc.)
  • 403 people were killed with rifles (all kinds)
  • 692 people were killed with personal weapons (hands, fists, and feet)

Pat referenced the situation that had developed in New Orleans, shortly after Hurricane Katrina, when police as well as the National Guard went from door to door to collect all rifles from homeowners. Watch the video at the top of the page for more details.
