US Postal Service hopes scratch-and-sniff stamps will inspire you to mail more letters

What’s going on?

The U.S. Postal Service is releasing a special set of scratch-and-sniff stamps featuring illustrations of ice cream bars and popsicles in time for the summer.

Missed connection …

Do you associate a trip to the post office with a frozen treat? Probably not. But USPS has been struggling as fewer people send physical mail, so it makes sense that they want some fun summer publicity with the set of 10 Forever stamps. The scented stamps will debut on June 20.

Doc’s take:

On today's show, Doc countered that these scratch-and-sniff stamps were a terrible idea because when people picture the post office, they think “stale back government room.” Nobody wants to smell that!
