Politics Gingrich won’t be testy with Romney

Newt Gingrich wont attack Mitt Romney

Don’t look for Newt Gingrich to throw any bombs at Mitt Romney. He doesn’t plan on it, even if Romney goes after him first. And he’s told his campaign staff not to as well, according to the Washington Post.

The surging Republican presidential candidate instructed his aides on Thursday morning not to respond to any attacks Romney has leveled against him or advance in coming days, according to a Gingrich campaign adviser.

Asked in an interview with the Post on Wednesday evening if he would return fire against Romney and Ron Paul, who ran a scathing web video, if he dipped in the polls, Gingrich replied, “No. I’ve gotten this far because I’ve stayed totally positive, and I’ve stayed focused on Barack Obama.”

The “no comment” approach to negative attacks hasn’t worked in the past. It didn’t do well for John Kerry‘s campaign when he was slammed by the Swift Boat Veteran ads. But, as Gingrich said yesterday, “They are not going to be the nominee. I don’t have to go around and point out the inconsistencies of people who are not going to be the nominee. They are not going to be the nominee.”

So, he should be fine.

    That’s what I like about the new Gingrich,lol, he smacks down on Obama, doesn’t take the MSM bait, and sets the tone and agenda. If you just ignore the MSM freakshow to get your message out they’ll have to cover it, which means hearing and covering how much Obama blows simultaneously or nothing.

    So he’s clever in that sense, and that‘s why he urged the debate candidates to focus on Obama as a ’team‘ which they couldn’t handle, ’cause they can’t stick to Obama, just like McCain. They all get ‘sucked in’ just like happens when they get elected.

    They leave the campaign trail, and like a VIRUS, all that self grandiose & privilege quickly becomes ‘the norm’ as the entire media (including Fox) strokes all their egos, and then the next thing they chum up with the dems for dinner, and this and that, and then the most important thing is cocktail parties, or being at the ‘in’ functions, & gladhanding dignitaries, not to mention and all the sleazy Lewinski‘s and Cain’s apparent pick four whores and the likes slithering around every crack and crevice.

    They’re all lifetime beltway leeches (Not Cain of course, yet) and professional cons for the most part, who quickly clamp on to the ‘new hires’ and pollute them too before they know what hit em. :(
