See President-elect Donald Trump's four word response to Fidel Castro's death

When President-elect Donald Trump heard that longtime Cuban dictator Fidel Castro had died, he didn't release a fancy statement. Instead, in typical Trump fashion, he took to Twitter.

It took Trump only four words to express his feelings over the news: "Fidel Castro is dead!"

Trump's "statement" was remarkably different than those of other world leaders, namely that of American neighbor Canada, whose prime minister — Justin Trudeau — said he had "deep sorrow" when he learned of Castro's death. Trudeau expressed his condolences to the Castros in a five paragraph statement.

And of course, Russian President Vladimir Putin lamented over Castro's death. To note, Cuba and Russia were very close allies during the Cold War.

President Barack Obama also offered his condolences to the Castro family.

Trump later released a more detailed statement, but his sentiment remained the same.

"Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades," the statement read. "Fidel Castro's legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights."

"Though the tragedies, death and pain caused by Fidel Castro cannot be erased, our administration will do all it can to ensure the Cuban people can finally begin their journey toward prosperity and liberty," the president-elect added.
