Real-Life 'Psycho': AZ Cops Find Mom's Decomposing Body in Home of Horror Filmmaker
March 13, 2011
TOMBSTONE, Ariz.-- It's a scene straight out of Hitchcock's "Psycho."A Tombstone filmmaker was arrested Wednesday after authorities found a decomposed body of a woman believed to be his mother inside his home.
Tombstone Marshal Billy Cloud said his office received a call on Wednesday to do a welfare check at the home of 68-year-old Jill Fattig.
A deputy was sent to Fattig's home, but when no one answered, he went to question her son, Timothy Fattig, a filmmaker for Desert Scream Productions, a horror-film production company.
Fattig told deputies that when he found his mother dead, he was so overcome with grief he never reported her death. Fattig had been telling people around Tombstone for several months that his mother was in a hospital in Tucson, Cloud said.If an autopsy finds that the woman died of natural causes, any charge against Fattig will likely be downgraded to failure to report a death, a misdemeanor, Cloud said.
Fattig is an author and historian who wrote a biography of Wyatt Earp.
His Facebook page says he works for Desert Screams Productions, which focuses on making and producing horror films.
As I poked around the MySpace page for Desert Screams I did note that they have a montage video of some of their favorite video moments. It ends with a notoriously creepy look from Norman Bates in "Psycho."
Here's the montage:
