Whitlock: Garth Brooks befriends the fallen angel in the lowest place

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are the father, son and holy spirit of America’s corporate-backed new religion.

Garth Brooks is one of the religion’s most popular evangelists. The country singer has long professed an allegiance to Christianity. Back when album and CD covers still mattered, Brooks always made it a point to thank God. He’d even go the extra step of referencing Jesus Christ.

The Bud Light-Dylan Mulvaney controversy has made it clear that Brooks has a spiritual friend in a very low place. The man who has sold more albums than everyone except the Beatles worships the false god of diversity and inclusion.

Last week, during an interview with Billboard Live, Brooks criticized the consumers and country music artists who have stopped buying, drinking, and serving Bud Light over the brand’s decision to partner with Mulvaney, the popular male actor claiming to be a woman. Brooks, who this summer is opening a honky-tonk on Nashville’s Broadway party strip, declared his bar – Friends in Low Places – would serve Bud Light.

“If you’re an asshole,” Brooks said, “there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”

Earlier this week, facing backlash from country music fans and witnessing Bud Light’s unabated free fall, Brooks doubled down and clarified his reasoning for supporting the embattled beer company.

“I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the answer to the problems that are coming,” Brooks stated in a video. “So I love diversity. All-inclusive, so all are welcome. I understand that might not be other people’s opinions, but that’s OK, man.”

Diversity is the answer to America’s problems?

Christians believe obedience to God is the answer. We believe in the Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in God’s word, we express gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice, and we seek a closer relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit.

Transgenderism rejects God’s word. Transgenderism empowers man to act as his own god. Dylan Mulvaney is trying to play God. And corporate America wants all of us to be individual gods.

Not everyone who has sworn off Bud Light is a Christian. But a biblical worldview is at the root of the movement against Bud Light. In the month of May, the brand lost its standing as America’s number-one beer. Modelo surpassed Bud Light, ending Bud’s 22-year run at the top.

Modelo is the Notre Dame of beer. In 1974, the Irish ended UCLA basketball’s 88-game winning streak. Or maybe Modelo is Buster Douglas, the boxer who knocked out undefeated Mike Tyson.

I think I like the Buster Douglas analogy better. Tyson was never really the same after losing to Douglas. Iron Mike’s air of invincibility went away. He went to jail for rape. And eventually Evander Holyfield exposed him as a bully.

Maybe, in the aftermath of Dylan Mulvaney, the same fate awaits Bud Light and the transgender movement. The Alphabet Mafia has been bullying Christians and conservatives.

The LGBTQIA+ crowd created the myth that womanhood is a state of mind. Anyone who objected to this secular worldview was labeled transphobic and faced cancellation.

That’s no longer true. The Bud Light controversy has created the space for disagreement and put the LGBTQ on their heels.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion form a false religion. It’s a religion designed to supplant the word of God.

Diversity is not a solution to America’s problems or anyone’s. It’s an excuse and a tool for elites to pursue power. Diversity favors the people born into power and wealth. They decide who gets elevated based on the whims of their feelings.

The hyper-focus on diverse hiring de-emphasizes qualifications and merit. An individual can make himself qualified through hard work and discipline. Merit is open to everyone. “Diversity” is completely subjective, cannot be earned, and is partially determined by sexual lifestyle choices.

Diversity promotes division and chaos among the non-elites. It incentivizes people to choose alternative identities. It undermines a culture of competition that is critical to America keeping its standing as the leader of the world.

Imagine running a successful football, basketball, or baseball team when roster spots are heavily influenced by gender identity, sexual lifestyle, and skin color. It would be a disaster. It would greatly diminish the quality of performance and spark acrimony within the team.

That’s what’s happening to America.

Garth Brooks knows this. He’s not stupid.

He doesn’t care. He’s an elite. He’s earned enough money for his kids and his grandkids’ kids to live a life of comfort and wield power. Brooks has adopted the diversity, equity, and inclusion religion to protect what he earned. He’s unconcerned with the plight of other heterosexual Christian young men.

His support of Bud Light is selfish and cowardly. He’s friends with the man in the lowest place.
