On Monday's episode of "Psuedo Intellectual" host Lauren Chen reacted to a recent Vice article that clearly advocates the personal rights and well-being of pedophiles, without regard for the safety or security of children.
The article laments the plight of pedophiles in the United States who are afraid to seek treatment because of "mandatory reporting laws that require therapists to report people they deem a risk to children to the police."
"Even if you've never offended, if you are sexually interested in children and you reach out to a therapist for help, they may decide that you still represent a threat," Elizabeth Letourneau, director of the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, told Vice. "And that their concerns meet the threshold for a mandatory report."
The article goes on to argue that pedophilia should be "destigmatized."
"[I]t would be very, very inhuman to judge such a person," said Berlin's "Project Dunkelfeld" creator Dr. Klaus Beier.
"That type of thinking is exactly how slippery slopes happen," Lauren said of the article's pedophilia-accepting message. "And I am fully convinced at this point that pedophilia will be the next slippery slope our society tumbles down. In fact, as we've seen, it's already started. Like it of not, we are living in a world where nearly every single slippery slope that people tried to warn us about ... has come to fruition."
