Even Chelsea Clinton thinks a congressman's crude joke about Kellyanne Conway goes too far
March 03, 2017
The most unlikely of allies have come together. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of failed Democratic candidate for President Hillary Clinton, came to the defense of Trump Administration adviser Kellyanne Conway over Democratic Congressman and head of the Congressional Black Caucus Cedric Richmond's comments about Conway's photo of her kneeling on a couch.
During The Washington Press Club Foundation held their Annual Congressional Dinner Wednesday night, Richmond made the joke that "she really looked kind of familiar in that position.”
Clinton, responding to Richmond's comments about the debacle, decided to take to Twitter to call the joke "despicable," and that Conway "receives the apology she deserves." Even Clinton acknowledges that she thought she'd never write such a thing.
Conway herself acknowledged Clinton's stance on the joke, and responded in thanks on Twitter, referring to them both as "strong women" and appreciating that she spoke out on the subject.
According to CNN, a spokesman for Richmond has declined to say whether or not the Congressman will apologize for the comment about Conway or not.
