Democrats rally to help former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe still get $1.8 million pension
March 17, 2018
Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe won’t lose his $1.8 million pension benefits if fellow Democrat supporters have their way.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe Friday, just two days before his retirement was set to take effect, according to published reports.
Fellow Democrats rushed to McCabe's defense, and some even offered him a job so he can still collect his pension.
Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) announced on Twitter that he would give McCabe a job for a few days.
This reckless attitude towards Americans’ lives and careers is exactly why this man should not be President. Mr. McCabe, if you need a federal job for a few days, give me a call. We value servant leadership around here.

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wisc.) also offered McCabe a job.
"I could use a good two-day report on the biggest crime families in Washington, D.C.," he wrote on Twitter.
What did Trump say?
Here's what President Donald Trump had to say about the firing:
Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI - A great day for Democracy. Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!

The Fake News is beside themselves that McCabe was caught, called out and fired. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars was given to wife’s campaign by Crooked H friend, Terry M, who was also under investigation? How many lies? How many leaks? Comey knew it all, and much more!

What led to this?
The recommendation to fire McCabe came from the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, which is led by FBI Assistant Director Candice Will, Fox News reported.
McCabe was named acting director of the agency after Trump fired former FBI director James Comey in May. McCabe held the position for three months, then stepped down and announced he would retire in March. Since that time, he still remained on the FBI payroll.
In addition to criticisms about Comey's handling of the Russia probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI recently came under fire after it admitted to receiving a tip about the Parkland, Florida, killer prior to the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
A tipster said the killed had expressed a desire to kill people, exhibited erratic behavior and made disturbing social media posts, according to the federal law enforcement agency. But the information was not assessed and forwarded to the FBI’s field office in Miami.
The shooting left a total of 17 students and staff dead.
