Video: Teen repeatedly punches Walgreens worker who's in her 60s after knocking victim to ground in front of store
August 10, 2023
A female teenager was seen on video repeatedly punching a Walgreen's employee who's in her 60s after knocking the victim to the ground in front of the store.
What are the details?
Police in Independence, Missouri, are on the hunt for a pair of teenagers involved in last week's reported attack at the store off 39th Street and Noland Road, WDAF-TV reported.
Authorities told the station the employee hit her head on the concrete walkway during the attack.
Police added to WDAF that the video actually shows the end of the attack — and noted that quite a bit took place before the clip was recorded.
How did it all start?
When the two teens entered the store with another teen and an adult, only one of the teens was wearing sunglasses, the station said, citing a police report.

But when the four females were leaving the store, the teen who hadn't been wearing sunglasses was seen wearing a pair, WDAF said.
The Walgreens employee noted to police that she told the adult in the group to pay for the sunglasses, but the woman refused, the station said.
WDAF said the two teens in question soon came back into the store. The return trip apparently wasn't about ponying up cash for merchandise.
The station said one of the teens grabbed a Sprite and sprayed it in the employee’s face. The employee said when she blocked the soda, the teen who was seen suddenly wearing sunglasses hit her, and the other teen jumped in as well, WDAF reported.
That same sunglasses-wearing teen then punched the employee multiple times while the other teen yelled in the background, the station said.

“I was shocked to see something like that,” Independence police spokesman Jack Taylor told WDAF, adding that "it's kind of disturbing to watch."
Now what?
Police told the station they're still trying to piece the incident together but need help finding the teens seen in the video.
Officers added to WDAF that the Walgreens employee is OK but wants to press charges.
The station said it reached out to Walgreens but added that the company didn’t have a comment.
