Stop taking this abuse

More than three years after the nationwide referendum for civic autonomy known as Brexit, our English cousins are no closer to actually achieving the freedom that is their birthright.

Yes, this absolutely is a miscarriage of justice. But it's also what I predicted would happen on the very night of the actual vote. Because these progressive elitists, whether here in America or over there across the pond, never lose. They always get their way, and there's never any accountability.

For example, Bloomberg News is going to the mat to defend one of its dutiful apparatchiks, er, I mean "journalists" after he knowingly mischaracterized the social media of a Trump official to mean exactly the opposite of its obvious intent. And then explained it away in a series of tweets that basically said he deserved it because he was a conservative. To put that more plainly, Ben Penn lied and not only will nothing be done about it, he is being defended as actually doing his job well. For deconstructing and dissembling the truth is his job.

Now consider that at the exact same time that ridiculousness is unfolding, NBC's Chuck Todd is insisting that "organized efforts to target journalists and discredit their reporting happen in places like Russia and China … organized efforts to target journalists should not happen in America."

This is in response to the Trump administration's promise to report on the countless biased and erroneous things journalists have actually said over the years on social media and other venues. Which makes Todd that obnoxious kid you used to play tag with back in the day, who used to make up all of his own rules in the middle of the game to explain why it was impossible for him to "be it."

"Guys, guys! I'm a reporter. I get to say things about you, but you don't get to say things about me. That would be unfair. Because my job is to hold the powerful accountable. And that makes me a special kind of powerful that no one else gets to hold accountable. No give backs, no takes backs. Nanna nanna boo boo."

I see you and raise you your Russia take, Todd, because you would make a perfect flack for Putin.

Which brings me to other tyrannical fun like Facebook continuing to go down its morally bankrupt checklist by censoring organizations that think it's bad to kill babies and, back to not-so-Great Britain again, where a woman was arrested in front of her children and charged with a crime for using the wrong pronouns.

Let's sum up then: The current state of things in both the land of Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence indicates a high (if not downright certain) likelihood that if I don't belong to the proper civic cult, then my vote will be ignored, the press will harass me, and the public square will shun me. Then the "law" will make a criminal out of me if I open my mouth in protest of any of that.

And it is in that atmosphere that Beto O'Rourke wants to mosey up in his skinny jeans and take our guns away? Hell no.

I think Lucius Fox of "The Dark Knight" has an appropriate response to such a weasel on behalf of the Second Amendment and its adherents everywhere:

"Let me get this straight, you think that your client, one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands, and your plan is to blackmail this person?"

It's time we remember who we truly are as citizens of the West. Stop taking this crap.
