Why did Middle Eastern nations suddenly band together against Qatar over the weekend?

Qatar is being alienated by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the Middle East over accusations that Qatar is enabling terrorists in the Gulf region.

The countries taking action against Qatar are recalling their diplomats, ending air travel to and from Qatar and giving their citizens two weeks to return. Qatar residents are reportedly scrambling to stock up on food because the country primarily depends on imports from Saudi Arabia to keep grocery shelves stocked.

On Tuesday’s “Pat & Stu,” Doc Thompson, Kari Malinak and Kal Elsebai discussed the growing tension in the region and wondered if and when the U.S. will respond.

Doc detailed some of Qatar’s ties to terrorism, including connections to the Muslim Brotherhood as well as the state-backed Al Jazeera network’s mysterious Islamist sources. He wondered, “Why hasn’t the U.S. done more with Qatar?”

Kal noted that, “what they’re doing now, with these countries banding together, that’s a huge sign, that’s a huge step forward."
