Why is comedy no longer funny?
Elon Musk has an answer, and it reveals some serious truth.
The Twitter CEO sat down with satire site the Babylon Bee to explain.
According to Elon, “The essence of a lot of comedy is a revealed truth.”
Elon believes that in truly funny comedy, there’s a moment of revealed, “unacknowledged truth.”
“And in that unacknowledged truth is the humor. If you’re, you know, premised on a lie, you can no longer be funny because there’s no real truth.”
He says that this is why “a lot of people on the left have no sense of humor; they’re not funny.”
Dave Rubin is in full agreement.
“Yeah, he’s so right about that,” Rubin says.
He continues, “You can think of great stand-ups and the reason you like a stand-up, the reason they make you laugh, is there is that hidden truth. And they’re sort of getting you right to that line and then through the joke they can kind of trip over that line, and that’s what the release is.”
Rubin believes we’ve “wrecked comedy” now that “so many comics went woke and became sort of lefty lunatics.”
“If you’re premised on a lie, you can no longer be funny because there’s no reveal of truth,” Rubin says, quoting Elon in agreement.
