'What a hate monger': Obama admin defines who is eligible for asylum

On Wednesday's episode of " Pat Gray Unleashed," Pat read President Donald Trump's new policy that outlines who is eligible for asylum and he also played audio of former President Barack Obama's definition from 2014.

Pat read the criteria that asylum-seekers must meet, according to Trump's definition of a refugee.

1. An alien who demonstrates that he or she applied for protection from persecution or torture in at least one of the countries through which the alien transited in route to the United States, and the alien received a final judgment denying the alien protection in such country.

2. An alien who demonstrates he or she satisfies the definition of "victim of a severe form of trafficking in persons" or an alien who is transited in route to the United States through only a country or countries that were not parties to the 1951 convention relating to the status of refugees.

According to Pat, Trump was not the only person to "hate" like that. He played footage from 2014 of former President Barack Obama parroting the same sentiment.

According to Obama:

"We permit a certain number of refugees into the United States based on fairly narrow criteria. Typically, refugee status is not granted just based on economic needs because a family that lives in that neighborhood or poverty is typically defined fairly narrowly.

You have a state, for example, who was targeting a political activist and he needed to get out of the country for fear of prosecution or even death. There may be some narrow circumstances in which there is some humanitarian refugee status that a family might be eligible for.

If that were the case, it would be better for them to be able to apply in-country rather than take a very dangerous journey all the way up to Texas to make those same claims.

But I think it is important to recognize that would not necessarily accommodate a large number of additional migrants."
