SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST
TheBlaze.com, an online news site and information network, is seeking to hire a rising star who has worked on highly successful social media campaigns in the past. This is a full time position dedicated to the promotion of TheBlaze via Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of the social media universe. The Strategist will be tasked with cleaning up and enhancing existing fan pages and accounts, substantially increasing “fan” and “follower” numbers, and ultimately driving noticeable, measurable traffic to the site through these methods. The ideal candidate will have experience working with new media companies, ideally in news/content and start-up environments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a social media strategy across various platforms, and collaborate with editorial, sales and tech teams to implement quickly and effectively
- Identify emerging trends in the social media space and innovate new platforms that leverage these trends for our brand and drive traffic
- Seek-out media opportunities that shed favorable light on TheBlaze, with an appreciation for the differences among online and traditional press outlets
- Actively utilize social media monitoring and analysis tools, and optimize SEO, content, and headlines for search
- Monitor larger trends in social media and marketing, appropriately applying this knowledge to further business and editorial goals
- Test new and alternative ways to leverage social media
- Identify super-users in the community, Twitter lists, Facebook groups, etc. for outreach
- Stay on top of follower/fan stats, sentiment, trends, highlights, and other metrics and community insights and report on them on a weekly basis including recommendations
- Establish, maintain & train on the company’s social media policy and protocol
- Innovate, innovate, innovate
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree
- 2-5 years of experience working with social media, social marketing, advertising and/or new media brands
- Passion and knowledge of social media communication fundamentals
- Demonstrated experience working with Facebook and Twitter
- Significant experience conceiving and implementing online community-building initiatives at scale.
- Has participated in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc.
- Proven success in measuring and monitoring marketing success metrics, and reporting them to senior staff along with insight and recommendations
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to move projects and communicate ideas in a busy organization
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, agile, start-up environment
- Ability to think strategically in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing to meet deadlines
