Hillary Clinton couldn't even win all of the Democratic electors in this super liberal state

Democrat Hillary Clinton failed to win all of the electors in very liberal Hawaii Monday, despite winning the state on Election Day.

Instead, of the four electoral votes apportioned to Hawaii, Clinton won only three. The other? It went to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

David Mulinix, Hawaii's so-called "faithless elector," told the Associated Press that he didn't vote for Clinton because he felt that she wasn't "qualified" to be president. But he added that if his vote would have made the difference between a Clinton presidency or a Donald Trump presidency, then he would have voted for Clinton.

According to the AP, Hawaii's Electoral College voters are required by state law to vote for the candidate who won their state during the general election.

However, Hawaii Chief Elections Officer Scott Nago told the AP that Mulinix will not be fined or penalized and his vote for Sanders will count.

The Electoral College convened in 51 different locations Monday to officially vote for president. Trump, as expected, clinched the White House with 304 votes. Only two Republican electors, both from Texas, defected. One voted for Ohio. Gov. John Kasich (R), while the other voted for former Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R).

In addition to the Hawaii defector, Clinton had four electors from Washington State defect. Three voted for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, while another voted for Faith Spotted Eagle, a Sioux tribe elder, who led protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota.

Clinton ultimately had more Electoral College defections than Trump, despite a constant media narrative that alleged there were up to 20 Republicans who sought to defect and vote against Trump.
