Watch: Dying Marine veteran gives Donald Trump, Mike Pence 'final salute' on his deathbed
December 21, 2016
Marine veteran Dr. Larry Lindsey, who spent his life shooting photographs for big publications like National Geographic, the Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel and others, became a small YouTube sensation during this year's presidential election cycle, posting videos of his ardent support of President-elect Donald Trump.
Lindsey posted his final video to YouTube Saturday and it's one that will sure make you shed a tear or two.
On Saturday, the vet posted a video from a hospital room, where he was hooked up to an oxygen mask and a myriad of different wires, addressing Trump, Vice President-elect Mike Pence, and Trump's nominee for secretary of defense, Gen. James Mattis, saying how proud he was to campaign for them.
"President Trump, Vice President Pence and Gen. Mattis I would like to say that the greatest honor of my life has been to wage this battle with you," he says in the video. "I have been prouder of being a Marine than anything I’ve ever done in my life. Having a hand in some small way in fighting for my country has meant the world to me. There is no greater honor for me than to have great men like you leading this country back to its foundation and back to God."
"Mr. Trump, I have no doubt in my heart and my mind that you will be perhaps the greatest president in the history of our country," the ailing Marine adds.
He also praises Pence as the best vice president in the last 150 years. But, as he tells Gen. Mattis, he is "out of ammunition" and quickly dying.
"General Mattis, it appears I am out of ammunition, but I continue to fight with my last breath," he tells Mattis. "I do not fear death for I know where I am going, and I am only going home for a rest."
As he praises God and gives the trio some parting advice, he ends his video with a homage to his Marine days: "And Gen. Mattis, I want to request, sir, give ’em hell and Semper Fi."
Then he gives the camera one final salute and the video ends.
According to the Daily Wire, Lindsey left the hospital shortly after shooting the video to spend the final hours of his life with his family at his home.
He died Sunday.
